ARTIST STATEMENT
I have been exploring the places I live and visit regularly—in color, light and subject matter. While living in Pennsylvania, this was a northern light and more subtle color; Denver where my kids live is arid, bright and majestic; Maine is foggy and coastal; and now we live on 10 acres in the sweet Southern town of Bell Buckle, Tennessee where the sun shines bright, the landscapes pastural, and the greens abundant. I try to capture the realistic subject matter with looser brushstrokes, intentional color palettes and interesting compositions. I work in oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolor. And of course, graphite. I also explore still life painting and portraiture.
