Kaitie asked me to create the Cover Art and Design for her first Christian Teen Novel and she wanted to show the town of Cedar Grove, specifically the Diner where the story starts, as well as the main character. She also asked me to create Character Designs for all six of the main characters and some scenes that she could share in her marketing of the book! I read the novel, cover-to-cover and we brain-stormed together about how these characters would look according to her descriptions in the book and what she thought they might look like. Kaitie also asked me to create motifs for the chapter breaks and she added a black & white spot illustration of Lexi on the bench to the end pages of the book. It was a fun project which will continue with the following books in the series!

The back cover was my idea: I thought it would be fun to draw the contents of Lexi’s purse, so that you would get to know her a little better… and who doesn’t want to know what’s in there?! I created the pattern too and Kaitie can use it in her marketing and for her website.
